WHAT’S THE WYD (WORLD YOUTH DAY)?
Every 3 years, millions of young people from all over the world gather together for about ten days for a pilgrimage that is filled with strong moments: praise, prayer, catechism, cultural exchanges, musical events, etc. each time, in a different city (Buenos Aires, Saint-Jacques-de Compostelle, Częstochowa, Denver, Manila, Paris, Rome, Toronto, Köln, Madrid, Rio…)
The next WYD will be held on July 2016 in Krakow (Poland).
AND MOST OF ALL…THE FAITH!
It is a very intense event for all the young people who participate. It is an experience of transformation and going in depth in our faith.
AND HOW DOES IT TAKE PLACE?
The WYD takes place in 2 parts:
First, the pre-WYD, in a receiving parish of the organizing country (in our case, the Assumption will be with 300 young people from all over the world in Warsaw) and then the actual WYD which lasts for 6 days, to culminate during the final week-end in the company of the Holy Father (Way of the Cross, prayer vigil, and the mass presided by the Holy Father).
AND THE ASSUMPTION IN ALL THIS?
Our “Assumption Route” has several characteristics
In order to prepare everyone spiritually and to create ties before leaving together for Poland, we are organizing a Festival of Faith for 3 days in Brussels that precedes the WYD.
Our international dimension: We will leave in the company of more than 300 youth and religious coming from Europe, Asia, Africa and the United States.
Besides the program Festival of Faith-pre-WYD-WYD, we shall go to the concentration camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
